AmplioSpeech Special Webinar
Host: Dr. Kathleen Whitmire, CCC-SLP (Ret), BCS-CL, Former Director of School Services, ASHA
The world that we are living in had gone through a polar-shift and was changed in a course of one week: The Coronavirus outbreak and pandemic cause schools all across the country to close, people are being home-quarantined and the therapy sessions are becoming more challenging if not impossible.
Like any other close interaction, conducting physical therapy face-to-face poses a potential risk. This leads us SLPs to rethink and adapt, to change our paradigms and realign our perceptions.
All of you now face questions you haven’t faced before. For instance: How am I going to safely and successfully treat my students? Would I be able to retain my position? How can I adapt to this new world? Is there a way I would come empowered out of the crisis?
Let us reassure you: There are answers to those questions.
School districts we serve have requested that we set up a contingency plan in case districts or schools shut down, or if specific students are required to or choose to stay home. The most significant part of the plan is training school SLPs on the topic of transitioning to Online Digital Therapy during challenging times.
We want to make it as easy for you as possible to make this essential transition — for your sake and most importantly, for the students’.
Our webinar focused on:
- The compliance framework for tele-practice
- Technology requirements and options
- Clinical aspects in transitioning to online
- Demonstration of an online platform
